Les Brockmann Music Engineering . Writing ON MUSIC & ENGINEERINGOn Music & Engineering

Hello, and welcome to my website...

This is my first time writing a blog (but I've had magazine articles published); hope I can keep it interesting for you. My intention is to use this to write about various things that come to my mind, as I go through my work as a studio music mixer. Sometimes it will be technical details and sometimes just real world experiences or comments.

If you like what I've written, I hope that you will check back again sometime soon; if it hasn't changed, I apologize for that, but it probably means I'm busy, which is a good thing. If you'd like to offer any comments or additional information, send them to me. I can't promise I'll respond but I will if I get a chance. —Les

Where did all the writing go?

Hi! Welcome to my web site, and the page where I am supposed to be posting some writing. Wait, what happened to it all?

I have found a new place to post my writing: SCOREcast OnLine

This is a terrific new website and podcast service, founded by composers Deane Ogden and Lee Sanders, with the intention of promoting and supporting all things about Film Scoring. It's worth keeping an eye on.

You can go right now and take a look at recent articles I have posted:

The Live Mix: Recording Two Television Scores

Technical Guidelines for Film and TV Scoring - Part 1

Mixer Collaboration: Working with Other Engineers and Composers

Technical Guidelines for Film and TV Scoring, Part 2: Some Mixing Tips

Personal Studio Acoustics

The Brightest Light in the Room

More Bits, More People

I will be writing a new featured column, "The Score Mixer", once a month for them. There's also writing of other talented folks, on a variety of related topics.

You never know when I might post something here, or update other parts of the site, though. So, please check back!

Thanks and best,

Les

PS: Due to a spam problem, the comment link below has been disabled. If you are interested, I encourage you to log in and comment on the ScoreCast site at the bottom of each article.
